Welcome to Fall!

President's report
The feeling of fall's wonderful temperatures began in Seattle, for me.  Such a beautiful city.  The National Meeting was busy and productive.   Systemic change to eliminate poverty is still the goal and the means to accomplish this was the hot topic in each meeting all week.

A workshop will be developed to implement Systemic Change late this October.  This will be presented to the Councils and Conferences early next year.  Appropriate to help celebrate the 200th year of Fredrick Ozanam's birth.  A DVD of National President Sheila Gilbert's  presentation on Systemic Change was distributed to each National Member in attendance.

Database update: It is the responsibility of each Conference President to assure that the membership information is maintained on the National Database , www.svdpusa.net. On line permision is granted  by the Council President and an ID and password will be assigned.  This is important for mail merge, training documentation and we need to know our "talent" pool.

There is a move to reduce expense and travel to Regional and Midyear meetings.  Midyear will be reduced to Friday afternoon and Saturday  for the National Board meeting, with no workshops or committee meetings.  Regional meetings will be held on even number years with a "tech" or webcast type meeting at the Council level on the odd numbered years. Tyler will host the South Central Regional meeting in 2014.

SVDP now has a Facebook profile(http://tinyurl.com/SFDPFB)  For the first time, video recordings were produced on the Society's Vision and the Strategic Goal presentations from the Mid-year meeting.  These were published and can be found at http://vimeo.com/user11614493.
